Check Out: How Item Upgrades Is Taking Over And What Can We Do About It

Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of many items in Path of Exile. They can be a fantastic source of additional damage and more AD or even more attaches.

Rare-grade equipment is usually superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear due to their high demands.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a kind of upgrade that can be used on armor and weapon items. They increase the effectiveness of the item they're connected to. Upgrades to armor can be found in the world of games and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrades from the items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it is able to absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to its highest upgrade level will boost the damage it absorbs. It's important to remember that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it should be heavier.

There are many different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. Certain upgrades give armor an extra amount of health points while others make it lighter and more powerful. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as indicated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, as identified by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table. Some upgrades also require a charge to use, which are identified by a "Charges" entry in the table below. These charges are constantly updated or never expire based on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest way to improve your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, however it is obtainable from the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can give a significant increases in stats and are worth the cost.

Upgrading a piece of armor to max upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that putting on weight will drastically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The defensive boost gained generally isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to increase the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage caused by shotgun shells. Certain firearms also have enhancements that enhance their intrinsic characteristics. Frictionless materials (improves stability, and reduces the possibility of overheating) and Kinetic coils (increases the projectile's velocity to cause more damage) are two examples.

The majority of upgrades for weapons require a whetblade, one of three Power Dices and a different amount Minerals and Erons. These can be obtained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

The process of upgrading a weapon, equipment Set piece or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade price of a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade the higher the level. The cost of upgrading will be lower if have more than one of the relevant upgrade materials.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the ways to upgrade your weapon and equipment sets was a bit different. Prior to Chapter 2: Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon and equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could continue doing this until you reach a maximum upgrade level for your equipment or weapon, after which upgrades would reset.

You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. It is better to purchase gear with low upgrade levels but with high base scores and stat distributions. These will be able to give you the highest tier bonuses and blessings.

To improve their skills faster, many players prioritize upgrading their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their squadmates use to boost their strength. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R to make it more useful when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to improve the stats of a character or to provide additional effects in armor and weapons. Jewelry crafting is a method of creating them. You combine gemstones with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the grade of the gemstone, the better its secondary effect. These reagents are available from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or by salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also purchase them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The quality of a diamond can be improved at the Jeweler, with stages that range from Crude to Royal. Depending on the tier of the jewel it will give different stat boosts when it is inserted into weapons, equipment and jewelry.

All levels of jewels can be made at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary jewels that require you to be at a certain level to obtain these. Jewels can be replaced with another one without damaging the original. However, you can only replace one jewel in an equipment piece once.

It is normal to use more jewelry for aesthetic reasons. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an area that is stronger than steel, so the repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

In addition to the above-mentioned upgrades players can also obtain glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. These glyphs provide a small boost and can be freely traded, but they are not guaranteed to show up as loot. Glyphs are like jewelry and can be upgraded at the Jeweler to exchange Scattered Crystals and gold. Glyphs can also be taken out and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade components, such as aegis or traits cannot be exchanged, and can only be retrieved with an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character many small, but useful advantages. They can be obtained in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and then found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player can unlock is the cloak, which gives an unimportant but beneficial boost to speed of movement and evasion. After that, they'll be able to purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in the same way to how a player acquires weapons and armor.  one-time offer  of equipment comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be put into any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with certain types of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of excellent team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by the hero's optimal stats.

A good rule of thumb for trinket upgrades is to prioritize BiS (Best-in-Slot) items that you will not replace in the near future, then any items with desirable stats but less important than the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats that you wish to upgrade, as it's often more beneficial to upgrade one important stat than two sub-optimal ones.

In the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players typically choose either a pink or green ward (depending on the matchup). These choices can affect the hero's ability to manage the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players will also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, such as the main quest of a chapter or killing a particular boss. They can be viewed by selecting the appropriate achievement from the reward tab of the hero menu.
